No funnel cake today, it was all about the deep fried Twinkie and Oreos cookies. There's a little wagon stand on the boardwalk right across from the water ride that makes you look twice and say to yourself "Does that really say deep fried twinkies?" Just the thought of deep frying a Twinkie makes me feel a little giddy inside knowing that it's probably not good for me but I know it'll taste good.
The making of a deep fried Twinkie on a stick.
A sprinkle of powdered sugar on top and chocolate syrup on the side and this is ready to go.
The Twinkie good like a deep fried twinkie should be. It had a golden outer layer with the right crispy crust, soft and steaming hot inside. I was looking for the cream in the middle but it was no where to be found. It must have melted away inside.

i've heard of twinkies being deep-fried but never tried one. i hate to say it, but twinkies were my favorite when i was a kid.
Justin - I love twinkies as a kid as well, I couldn't get enough of them. If you ever see them, be sure to try them. Get some oreos too, I was surprised I liked them more.
Oh god. I don't think I could stomach the twinkie (I've only ever eaten one before, when a US penpal sent me some, and it was like having a mouthful of sugar and preservatives) but that deep fried Oreo looks sinfully brilliant. Yes, I realise the glaring hypocrisy in what I've just said ;)
@Conor - lol! the oreo had more of of a chocolate flavor but still contained a lot of sugar which was oh so yummy
The first deep fried Twinkie I had was at that stand on The Boardwalk many summers ago. They are the best when they are fresh hot out of the fryer. I can't go to The Boardwalk now without getting one!
